CFD benchmarks
The indoor environment community has adopted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) as a useful tool for the prediction of air movement in ventilated spaces. Room airflow is a very complicated flow with low turbulence effect, stratification effect, potential flow, jet flow, boundary layer flow and it describes the transport of energy, gases, small particles and large particles.
It is essential to test and adjust CFD model by comparing predicted results by a benchmark test. The benchmark can be used for testing new programs, for the selection of turbulence models, the study of grid dependency, test of numerical schemes and different source codes as well as tests of different boundary conditions.
